TSTA Through the years
The Beginning of True Shot Training Academy
In late 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, ammunition shortages made it difficult for shooters to train consistently. At the time, our Founder and Owner, Andrew, was working as a NorCal Firearm Custodian for a large security company. While picking up ammunition and gear in Southern California, he stumbled upon a small establishment next door—one that used a firearm simulator for training.
Curious, Andrew stepped inside and participated in a range session. What started as a hands-on experience quickly turned into a deep conversation with the owner about the potential of simulated firearms training. Combining this newfound insight with the ongoing ammunition shortages and limited range availability, an idea was born—one that would soon evolve into True Shot Training Academy.

In early 2021, after months of research, demonstrations, and brainstorming, Andrew discovered the LaserShot SimRange—an advanced firearms training system used by military and law enforcement. With its cutting-edge graphics, diverse program offerings, and state-of-the-art hardware and software, it was the perfect foundation for what would become True Shot Training Academy.
After purchasing the system, software, and simguns, the next challenge was finding a commercial location. However, with the pandemic still impacting businesses, Andrew saw an opportunity to revolutionize the shooting industry in California. Instead of a traditional storefront, he invested in an 18-foot enclosed trailer, transforming it into a fully functional, mobile firearm simulator. Through countless trips to Home Depot, Facebook Marketplace, and custom fabrication work, the TSTA Mobile Range Trailer became a one-of-a-kind training experience—bringing safe, innovative marksmanship training directly to the community.

2022 was a year of research, refinement, and expansion as Andrew continued to enhance True Shot Training Academy. Listening to client feedback, TSTA introduced new firearm platforms, expanded software scenarios, and optimized range setups to improve the overall training experience.
TSTA also gained traction through partnerships with local organizations, becoming a featured attraction at several “gun dinners,” increasing exposure and growing its client base.
To further improve the TSTA Mobile Range Trailer, Andrew made key modifications, including upgraded lighting, a small AC unit, and a new side entrance. These enhancements not only streamlined operations but also provided a more comfortable and accessible training environment—ensuring an even better experience for clients.

2023 was a milestone year for True Shot Training Academy, marked by exciting new offerings and expanded partnerships. TSTA introduced additional firearm platforms and software, staying at the forefront of simulated training technology. A major highlight was the addition of ACE VR, one of SHOT Show’s most talked-about innovations. This state-of-the-art Virtual Reality system allows clients to immerse themselves in various range settings, refine their skills through an extensive drill library, or take on thrilling challenge scenarios. The VR system quickly became a crowd favorite at TSTA events.
Expanding our local partnerships, TSTA teamed up with Del Valle Gunsmithing (DVG) to bring our Mobile Range inside their shop for League Nights and set up outside for Trailer Days—creating an engaging, hands-on training experience. In collaboration with DVG, we also introduced use-of-force training for their Concealed Carry courses, generating buzz and attracting a growing community of regular clients.
Beyond private training, TSTA made its mark at public events, participating in Flair on the Farm in Salinas, providing specialized training for church security teams in Fresno, and working with various groups in Paso Robles.
With continued growth and innovation, True Shot Training Academy is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge, accessible, and engaging firearms training experiences.

Expanding Our Reach – 2024
In 2024, expansion was the driving force behind True Shot Training Academy’s continued success. TSTA brought its simulated range to new regions, reaching Orange County in the south, expanding north to Yuba County, and strengthening its growing client base in Monterey and San Luis Obispo Counties.
TSTA also made a big impact at major events, including Flair on the Farm, Paso Robles Taco Festival, San Luis Obispo Craft Beer Festival, Fourth of July Celebrations, and the Soaza Truck Show and Pulls. With larger crowds and high demand, TSTA redesigned its setup to accommodate bigger groups and large-scale events, ensuring an efficient and engaging experience for all.
Listening to client feedback once again, TSTA launched the Merchandise Center, an online store where fans can purchase their favorite TSTA designs year-round. Andrew continues to create new merchandise based on client requests, feedback, and market trends.
To improve comfort and mobility, Andrew installed a powerful climate control system, ensuring a comfortable experience no matter the weather or travel conditions. The trailer also received a sleek new look, transitioning from stock white to a bold gray and black design that reflects the TSTA brand.
Looking Ahead to 2025
Big things are on the horizon!
